| Leaks?
Just say NO!
Original
Stromberg carbs weren't called 'leakers' for nothing. But
that was then. And this is now.
Old
Strombergs leaked for many reasons. First, the inlet needles
would stick, so gas would fill the float bowl and up past
the felt accelerator pump washer. Then the paper gaskets got
wet and let fuel out of the float bowl. Then folks would
pound on the airhorn casting to unstick the needle. Then
they'd get heavy-handed on the airhorn screws, attempting to fix
the leaks, and warp the casting making things even worse.
So what
have we done about it? First, we've included a twin-ball
S-jet inlet valve that self-cleans so it won't stick.
Second, we use high tech gasket materials - a modern
reinforced cellulose/nitrile mix. And third, we've thickened
our airhorn castings in the float bowl area to reduce the
chance of warping.
